Each 0.3 ml dose contains:

  • Pigeon rotavirus, strain Ro/D, inactivated ≥ 52.2 EU*

  • Pigeon paramyxovirus type 1, strain 988M, inactivated ≥ 6.47 log2 HI**

* ELISA units in chickens
** Hemagglutination inhibition in chickens

Target species: Pigeons


Indications

For active vaccination of pigeons from 4 weeks of age:

  • To reduce the frequency and severity of clinical signs, gross lesions, and virus shedding caused by Group A rotavirus, genotype G18P[17] (PiRV).

  • To reduce mortality, frequency, and severity of clinical signs caused by paramyxovirus type 1 (PMV1).

Onset of immunity:

  • 2 weeks after completion of the primary vaccination course.

Duration of immunity:

  • 8 months for PiRV

  • 9 months for PMV1
    (after completion of the primary vaccination course)

Contraindications:

  • None known.


Dosage and Administration

Dose:

  • 0.3 ml per pigeon

Route of administration:

  • Intramuscular injection into the thigh muscle, or

  • Subcutaneous injection in the upper neck region directed toward the tail (not toward the head).


Recommended Vaccination Schedule

Primary vaccination:

  • First dose: from 4 weeks of age

  • Second dose: 3 weeks after the first dose

Booster vaccination:

  • One dose one year after the last vaccination

In flocks with high infection pressure of PiRV and/or PMV1, a booster vaccination is recommended every 8–9 months after the last vaccination.


Adverse Reactions

  • Lethargy: usually lasts 1 day after vaccination

  • Immediate pain at injection site: without swelling, usually lasts 1 day after intramuscular injection

  • Swelling at injection site: up to 0.5 cm in diameter, usually persists for up to 5 days after subcutaneous injection

  • None
