Electrolytes are typically used by humans to replace what they lose through sweat during exercise. However, sport pigeons don't sweat, so they don't need electrolytes in the same way. Pigeons lose protein or weight during races, and this must be replaced with amino acids and high-quality animal protein.

Although electrolytes aren't essential for sport pigeons, they are beneficial for other birds, such as chickens or breeder pigeons. For example, breeder females that lay eggs repeatedly over the years may suffer from an electrolyte imbalance, leading to dehydration and weak bones. To prevent this, Electrolyte Balance contains 30 times more electrolytes than conventional products.
